Bugs such as the Vibroplex are notorious for out-of-control dits. A variety of adapters are available for adding weights to slow them down, some better than others. Here is a simple solution I found using junk box parts.
The essential part is a shaft coupler cut from a barrier terminal block connector, sometimes called a European connector block. I found one that perfectly-fit the vibrator shaft of my Vibroplex bug.
As an extension shaft I first used a machine screw with a weight that slid onto it from my junk box (see below). That allowed only limited adjustment, however.
I searched my junk box and found a shaft that fit nicely into the connector and was the right diameter to fit into the coupler and also accommodate one of the weights that came with the bug (top photo).
This allows for a wide range of dot speeds. Now I just need to develop a good bug fist.
